Solar Panels For Residential Use

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Solar power is becoming a very attractive option for alternative sources of energy. By generating your own electricity you can stabilize your electric bill and at the same time help the environment. There are a few options for people who wants CSP including dish engine systems and parabolic troughs.

Although these solar power systems are available today, they are still relatively expensive. However, the costs are dropping and making this something that will become adopted on a residential scale. Creative financing options are in place that help homeowners adopt their own home solar power systems. This all depends on the amount of money that will be pumped into the research and development.

There is a lot of development happening in the southwestern United States which are creating new technologies to bring down the cost to compete with fossil fuels. With the new thermal storage technologies being developed, the homeowner will no longer need to use fossil fuels when sunlight doesn’t show. This allows you to generate and store electricity like a battery would.

The low cost of fossil fuel is one of the major reasons why solar power hasn’t caught on. There is also a lot of attention being paid to photovoltaics systems.

Alternative energy sources whether they involve solar, wind, or biofuels will be essential to sustaining our environment. This also has national security implications as we rely heavily on foreign sources of oil from places that do not like us very much. Financial incentives in states like California, Nevada, Arizona, and Mexico where the grid parity is less, are high which have encouraged thousands of homeowners to switch to alternative energy.

Solar panels are becoming increasingly more affordable with more installers and manufacturers competing for residential customers. There are also a wealth of incentives available for homeowners depending on the state that you live in. Federal tax rebates and incentives have opened up solar power systems to all audiences.

Build Your Own Solar Panels To Save Money

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Knowing how to build your own solar panels is one of the best free gift you can ever get from Mother Earth. Sun power has been the oldest form of free renewable energy source which man have tried to tame and harness for the longest time.

Solar energy is a renewable and sustainable form of power which collects UV wavelengths from the sun and converts them into usable electricity to drive your household appliances. Essentially, the amount of electricity you consume determines the number of solar panels you need to build. Alternatively, you may also assume that the more panels build the more energy can be generate for usage or storage for future use.

If the above sounds laborious, expensive and technical, think of the monthly savings your new home solar power system could generate, cutting you power bills by about half on a monthly basis. Many individuals too believe that assembling and installing the system is a great physical challenge and hence pass off the idea. These are the people who have not found the easier and cheaper ways to build your own solar panels compared to buying from the professionals like I have.

Here, I shall share with you why and how there is no need to pay a professional 7,000 to 16,000 dollars to install your home solar power systems. You can start building your own sola panels with less for about 200 dollars over one weekend. All materials are easily available at your friendly neighbourhood hardware store. The beauty of it is that you start saving money the moment the system starts ups and there is low maintenance. What you do need is a good manual or guide which gives clear, concise and easy to follow instructions. The best guides come in the form of both and ebook as well as specific step by step videos which reduces your learning time by more than half. In fact, simply follow the assembly and installation videos closely and you would have completed your project by the time your finish your videos.

As with any acquired skill, once you have mastered the assembly and installation techniques and build your own solar panels for the first time, as well as experienced for yourself the money saving benefits of a much reduced utility bill, you will want fully optimize more savings, by simply building more of them, expanding the capacity of your home solar power system continuously. Solar Power Can Help Improve Our Daily Lives

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

When solar power comes to mind, you may think of those funky looking houses with those home solar panels on them. That is not solar power for everyday living. Solar power has a lot of uses beyond those of producing electricity for houses or for automobiles. Even small electrical devices can be powered by Solar Energy in lieu of a battery or any outlet plug-in. Devices such as cell phones, GPS units, and Laptops can be solar powered. All you require is the right connectors, the right amperage and voltage of the device and a battery to store the energy solar panels collect~All you require is the right connectors, the right amperage and voltage of the device and a battery to store the energy solar panels collect}.

You can modify and customize your solar panels and battery device to collect any amount of energy you wish up to the threshold. After the threshold, or when the battery is full, the solar energy is just being reflected from the solar panels. The battery should be compatible with the device you have to use it for. For smaller devices you need a smaller area with less voltage or with a different lot rating~For smaller devices you require a smaller area with less voltage or with a different lot rating}. How many times have you been out fishing or camping and your cell phone battery goes out? Many of them carry cell phone adapters for their cars so that they may recharge the battery in their automobile. This is fine if the engine is on or the engine has been used to charge the battery in the Vehicle. However running the engine is a cause of pollutants and other toxic materials which you are releasing out into the environment just by charging up your cell phone.

As technology advances and the demand for solar power systems increases, prices should go down and the technology should be accelerated. Today only 1% of all houses in the United States are powered by solar energy. You may want to explore the beauties of these home solar power systems. If we think outside the box and go beyond the house there is an entire world of devices that can be powered by the sun. All it takes is a little imagination and a little research and someday soon we will be out of the grips of fossil fuels and nonrenewable energy.

Information You Need To Know On Building Your Own DIY Solar Panels

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

The time is definitely right to take a look at home solar power systems. A combination of much lower prices for solar cells together with massive tax credits and incentives from federal and local governments has the price of systems dropping significantly. In addition, fossil fuels are jumping in price because of increased demand and dwindling resources. Finally, we all are increasingly aware of the environmental effects of burning carbon fuels, and using solar energy is a great way to reduce this individual impact. For those of us that like to do home projects ourselves, the question is do we have the ability to build our own a DIY solar panel?

The first skill is one that most ‘DIY folks’ already have. You need the ability to work with materials such as wood and metal. You need to be able to use power saws, drills and other common tools, and have the ability to fabricate things from scratch with these materials. The more experience you have in building projects, the easier you will find the challenge of building and installing solar panels. There is nothing about this project that can’t be learned by the average handyman. Just have confidence in your ability to use a home owner’s tool kit and you are good to go.

In order to produce the electrical connections between the solar cells, you must be able to make a clean solder joint that will make a complete electrical connection and never fail. This is one area that most people need to practice since it is not a common requirement for most home projects. The good news is that with a little instruction and practice, it is an easy skill to learn.

Probably the most foreign set of knowledge that’s required is the understanding of electricity. Some homeowners have done some simple wiring to add fixtures and switches, but most have to go all the way back to high school science to refresh their memory about DC electric current. It is unlikely, unless you studied physics that you know what a photon is and how electrons move to form a current. Fortunately, you will not need to know all the physics to build your own solar panel, but you definitely will have to come up to speed on basic electrical concepts.

There are two things I would highly recommend to get ready to begin a diy solar project. The first is to get some articles or books that explain the basic electrical concepts that make a solar system work. This will give you a framework for understanding how each of the system components fit together.

The second is a course that actually shows you how to assemble solar panels in detail, and gives you all the parameters for constructing a successful system. There are a number of these courses available by searching on the internet. Some are excellent. Good courses make extensive use of videos and give step by step instructions that are easy to understand. Other courses offered, sometimes at high prices, might not be worth the money.
