If you are thinking about installing a residential solar energy system in your home, you will need to know how much energy you are currently using. This information can usually be obtained from the local electric company. Using this data as a baseline, you can plan your solar energy system in accordance with the needs of your home. Your region’s weather will have an effect on energy use, as well as the direction your windows face, the number and location of your trees, and the kinds of appliances used. Even the type of light bulbs you use can make a difference.

To Discover How You Can Cut or even Rid Your Energy Bills Completely Visit: A Recommended DIY Solar Project

The annual temperature extremes in the geographical region you live in will be a large factor. If you’re residing in an area with temperature extremes in summer or winter, you will use more energy to cool or heat your home than if you were in a fair climate.
In a cold climate, south-facing windows help lower your heating costs. North facing windows in a hot climate can reduce cooling bills.

Mature trees can supply shade and help decrease cooling costs during the summer, while the denuded tree limbs let in sunlight in during the winter months. These factors can all contibute to the amount of energy you use. And installing energy efficient insulation in walls, roofs and floors help lower power costs in all climates.

For an Up-To-Date Report on Cutting Electricity Costs Click Here: Solar Power Projects

If feasible, use only energy efficient appliances. Newer appliance models can use as much as 50% less energy than older ones, particularly if they need to be repaired and are not working at maximum efficiency. An additional way to signifantly lower electricity consumption is to use compact flourescent light bulbs.

After you have evaluated your home for the above factors, you can plan to build a solar photovoltaic system by multiplying your average daily kilowatt hour consumption by about .25. This will help you estimate the daily kilowatts the solar panels need to generate to maintain your current energy needs.

I really was a little bit scared when I first started to plan my homemade solar panel project. I was a novice at DIY and thought that building my renewable energy source would be very difficult indeed.

Luckily, I came across some very good step by step guides on the internet and set about building my first solar cell.

I always knew that with prior planning and a good set of instructions, my DIY solar panel project would be a success. I ultimately wanted to live a greener existence and save money on my fuel bills as well!

I was amazed at how cost effective building my homemade solar panels was. Also by following a step by step guide, I grew in confidence that the panels would work and save me money. So much so that it was not long before I had my first panel made

You have to remember that a homemade solar panel is simply a big box filled with some wiring and solar cells. Once I got started the assembly of my homemade solar cell was straight forward. Just follow the step by step guide if you have one.

Once constructed, you will need to find a spot that allows your DIY solar panels to face the sun. An ideal position for locating your solar cells is your roof, particularly your south facing roof. Take care when climbing at height and I would advise wearing a hard hat and harness. Remember that you panels contain glass and should be handled with care throughout the installation process. Asking a friend is always a good idea when installing your DIY solar panel.

So what are you waiting for? I now save a substantial amount of my heating and electricity costs by harnessing the power of the sun for free! By building your own homemade solar panel you will not only prolong the life cycle of fossil fuels but also save money.

Solar panels first appeared several decades ago and they were a revolutionary invention giving us the ability to extract energy from the sun and convert it to electricity. Surprisingly it has taken this long to see them being installed on lots of new buildings when they are constructed. There is no cost at all for the energy that the sun sends us and having found a way we can convert this energy that arrives on the surface of the planet when the solar panels are installed we get free electricity.

People do wonder why this hasn’t happened a long time ago but as so often it all comes down to the cost of materials that are required because the output of electricity from solar panels is still fairly low. We have come a long way and the best solar panel to energy conversion rates is constantly being improved as development work continues to improve on the materials used in manufacture. The photovoltaic panels now being constructed are using several different layers of very thin films of materials and combined in this way the material generates electricity when it reacts to sunlight.

When solar panels were first developed their efficiency was lower and energy was cheap so the savings in electricity costs took many years before the cost of the solar panels installation was repaid and the energy was truly free. The technology of solar panels and the photovoltaic cells used in their construction is much improved which gives a much quicker return on the costs of installing the solar panels system which has been reduced to around ten years. There are many benefits to using solar panel energy but one of the most important is that after the installation there are no further costs and you get free electricity every day whatever happens in the future to energy prices.

The cost of solar energy panels has reduced as better manufacturing processes have been developed a reduction in the basic cost of the panels and improved efficiency and conversion ratios enabling standard installation on every new building saving us all money and cutting carbon emissions from power stations.
