Snow Delays?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

A lot of the time it can be very hard to get into work because of the snow or something like that but the real question to ask is, do people just make excuses on why they cannot get in or are they really stuck in the snow?

If you have a smaller car or perhaps rely on the wonderful public transport you will know how difficult getting in can be in the snow, this is why a boss should actually not be cross if someone cannot get in because of this. so if someone like this is calling you up I wouldnt bother shouting at them because the chances are, they cannot do anything about the weather.

How about the people with the bigger cars? There are simply no excuses at all for getting into work if you have a 4 by 4 unless of course the snow is very high, what is the likelihood of that. If you can walk in why not do it, it may be a bit more than driving but there is no reason why you cannot do it? I have had to do this a few times and unless you cannot walk or it hurts to walk there is no reason why you cant do it.

Of course you could always go after something like large van lease or you could find yourself in need of pickup leasing when your car gets stuck in the snow!

So when it snows next make sure you have a long think about if you can get into work or not. Not getting in means that your company are one person down and if you cannot work at home the chances are you are costing them a lot of money.

Of course if you cannot get in why not look at minibus lease.

Safety Steps for Earthquake Survival

Friday, February 26th, 2010

When the ground is rumbling every second counts. There is no time to panic. Choose to act and live. If you can feel a tremor, you are close enough to the epicenter (or blast) for there to be structural damage in your area. It is possible that the following suggestions may help you survive.

GENERAL SAFETY RULES
Keep well-made shoes and a flashlight within arms reach of your bed and another set near your work station. At home, keep clothing you can quickly put on within reach of your bed. If a tremor begins while you are in bed, remain there until the shaking stops. After the shaking has ended, get dressed and put on your shoes. Broken glass will easily slice through bare feet (or casual/dress shoes) and hinder your efforts to get to safety.

DUCK, COVER & HOLD
IF YOU ARE INDOORS crouch near an interior, load bearing wall. Place yourself beneath a sturdy object (table, etc.). With your arms and hands, shield your head and neck. Take a firm hold of the object you are beneath to keep yourself steady.

IF YOU ARE IN A TALL BUILDING duck under a sturdy object. Protect your head and neck with your hands. Stabilize yourself by grasping the object you are beneath. When exiting, always use the stairwells. NEVER use elevators during earthquake or fire.

WHEN OUTSIDE
Observe where the large trees and power lines are located. If these fall, they are dangerous. Avoid these or any other overhead hazards. To avoid falling debris, locate an open space. In urban areas, locate yourself away from tall buildings. Two to thirteen feet of broken glass can crash onto streets beneath high-rise buildings.

IF YOU ARE IN YOUR CAR
Stay in your car. Locate yourself beyond the reach of overhead threats. Dont place your vehicle under any protrusions. Remain in your car even if it is beneath a bridge during an earthquake. The vehicles tires act as insulation and will cushion the blow of any heavy debris that lands on your car. Move your vehicle to the shoulder without blocking other vehicles if you are on an open stretch of road. Wait for the shaking to stop. Use your radio to track reports and get further instructions.

WHEN THE TREMMOR SUBSIDES
Expect aftershocks; be prepared to repeat the DUCK, COVER & HOLD. Examine yourself for injuries. Secure your flashlight. In the event of gas leaks, a flashlight will be MUCH safer to use than a candle. If you are home, locate everyone that was in the house. Help everyone get to your pre-arranged meeting place. Once youve accounted for everyone, walk around the perimeter of the house, checking for structural damage such as large cracks or obvious leaning.

Wait for instructions from authorities before attempting to shut off natural gas. Listen to AM radio for updates/news from the Emergency Broadcast Network regarding where to go for help.

Look for your pets. Try to calm and re-assure them. In order to assure that they not get lost running away in fright, place them on a leash or restrain them until they are calm. Anxiety induced bites are also prevented by taking these measures.

FOLLOW YOUR INSTINCTS
Use your best instincts regarding disaster safety. Make a note of the behavior of birds and animals. Did you know that on Monday, May 5th of 2008, frogs in China began a mass migration that took them across streets and roads? A few days later (May 12th) a 7.8 magnitude quake killed nearly 10,000 people in central China.

A WORD OF WARNING
These guidelines are offered as suggestions. Taking the time to think through your options BEFORE such an event will greatly help you should you ever find yourself in such a position. This material is no substitute for assistance by professionals. The reader assumes all liability when utilizing these measures.

San Diego to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emmissions

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Assembly Bill 32 (AB 32, 2006) mandates a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020. Since cars and light-duty trucks represent 46% of total greenhouse gas emissions, all we have to do is tell the automakers what emissions goals they need to reach, and that should solve the problem, right? Well, no. Theres a smarter way to go about it.
If we continue to assume that people will keep driving cars, and that the population is expected to increase, the carmakers alone are not going to be able to solve the problem.

What about changing the existing assumptions? What if people didnt have to drive as far? What if they more of them took public transportation? Could thinking like that, combined with lower emissions from the biggest polluters, enable us to reduce greenhouse gasses (ghgs) in spite of an increase in population?

Enter Senate Bill 375 (SB 375, 2008), which requires a reduction of ghgs to 1990 levels from new land development or redevelopment projects. Additionally, it calls for a technical advisory committee which will make recommendations to the California Air Resource Board (CARB) detailing how we are to reach the mandated goal.

So where does this committee come from? Who has the skill and knowledge to put together such a long-reaching plan? Twenty-one people have volunteered their time to make this happen. For the most part, they fall into two groups: organizations who want their cities and counties to thrive and organizations whose goal is to reduce emissions. While these goals may seem to be at odds, the job of the Regional Targets Advisory Committee (RTAC) is to make a plan to do both at the same time.

Who are the representatives of California residents and businesses? Ten committee members are involved in local government and city planning, five are involved in public transportation, five are from organizations that support environmental issues, and one from a California new home builder. They come from all of the major metropolitan areas as well as universities and state-wide organizations.
The RTAC report to the California Air Resources Board is due at the end of September. In the next two months, they will put together recommendations of actions and measurements that will enable each region to meet the required goals, taking into consideration the capabilities of each entity and current and projected economic factors. No small feat.

When theyre done, theyll have accomplished something that could not have been done without a huge long-term commitment from a wide variety of organizations. Only an effort like this has the potential to significantly impact the amount of greenhouse gas emissions in California.

The Power of the Subconscious Mind

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

As soon as you realize you have a subconscious mind, the quicker we can help you train it. There are many developments both positive and negative that revolve around these inner voice stories. While everyone has their own beliefs, we’re going to share with you how you can start taking advantage of your subconscious mind. The results will be endless, but you’ll have to see it to believe it.

While many people feels it’s just a story, the truth of the matter is you can highly benefit from the way you think. The main objective is to believe in that inner voice when the thought process is a motivating and encouraging one. If you’re reading this you’ve probably spent years unconsciously building a negative rapport with the subconscious mind. However, yours works differently then mine. Its inner voice is unique and in the end it is yours and yours alone.

What exactly is subconscious mind power? We all know the voice of our inner mind. There may have been times when you were trying to risk everything for a whim and it helped you to realize the truth. There may have been times it may have prompted you to take a decision which may have proved beneficial in the long run. However, there are times when the inner voice tells you that you are not good enough, beautiful enough or even don’t have a good enough figure. Actually subconscious is nothing but you deepest beliefs and thoughts which reside deep inside.

Your life will not turn out according to your dreams if you have a negative attitude about yourself. However, it doesn’t have to remain that way. You can actually reprogram your attitude, thinking and eventually your life. You can have your dream life by simply reprogramming your subconscious.

You will have to plan for tomorrow. The first thing to do is start giving yourself affirmation. Set up areas in your house where you can see the affirmation throughout the morning before work and when you come home from dinner. Write a note here and there that brings positive thoughts. Place a huge screen saver message for you to see every time you turn on the computer. Basically do whatever it takes to give yourself the affirmation needed to change your life.

Let’s say you would like to make more money for your current financial situation. So many people go through life believing their situation can’t get any better, but the truth of the matter is they’re wrong. It’s never too late to train your subconscious mind in a positive manner. You just have to use the necessary tools to make it happen. Maybe it’s as little as making it a screen saver on your computer or putting a posted note on your bathroom mirror. Whatever works for you is fine as long as you take the appropriate steps to make the change.

There really isn’t a better way to make you understand other than showing you. Since we can’t do it here, we’ll have to tell you about one of our students who changed their life for the better. In his case, he went from having a low level income childhood to low level income adulthood. He was so used to living this way the subconscious mind only knew one way for him to live. However, after training his mind the right way, things started to change.

Your mind affects your life and here is an illustration to prove this fact. Let’s assume that you sleep till late one day and then when you get up, you see the watch and sigh ‘oh it’s going to be one of those tough days’. Accidents start happening, your shower doesn’t work, your coffee spills and messes your best dress and in the office there are more accidents which make you think ‘I was right, today is a tough day’

Once I heard about how you could reshape the subconscious mind, everything started to make sense. In those days I was taught to live a hard life, and just make do with what I was given. Unfortunately I was never taught that I could make more money, or simply provide a stable life for my family. To make a long story short, I now train my subconscious mind to think differently. It tells me I can do anything, and it has reshaped my life in ways I only dreamed of years ago. Thank you.’

There are many stories just like this one that gives astonishing accolades about the subconscious mind. Today, you can even find movies like The Secret that explain this quantum physics phenomenon over a person’s body. In short, our subconscious mind will react with and respond to reality, which eventually causes the actions throughout the day. Basically, our subconscious mind creates our path through life.

This has also been confirmed by quantum physics and experiments have proved that even the subatomic particles vibration is connected with the mind set of the observer. Ancient religions have been talking about this for centuries.

It is evident that the subconscious mind can create reality in our lives. However, we must practice the various steps of training to give ourselves the best experience of a lifetime. People have created good lives for themselves through using the subconscious mind. If you can visualize doing this yourself, then you’ve taken the first steps towards a better life.

Why Do People Think A Bike Is A Child’s Toy

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Many people get reminded of the days when they were younger and riding a bike which I suppose is where they get the idea that bikes are for kids. Is all of this actually true or are there just people out there that like to cause a bit of an argument?

I can see their point in certain ways, some of the cycling clothing does look a bit out there and those cycling shoes look simply ridiculous on some of the people that wear them.

I have taken a look at their point and they are without doubt, wrong. Why is someone riding to work, getting exercise and enjoying the morning air acting like they are still a small child? I think that it is safe to say that the people that think like this are either overweight, unable to ride a bike or just plain arrogant. Personal opinion on this is that the people that think like this are the people that drive into work everyday whilst smoking and eating their NuggetMcZingerKingburger for the morning. I think I would rather be riding in the cold!

Other Reasons People Associate Bikes With Children

The fact is that most people have not been on a bike since they were a very young child and it is one of the very first things they remember doing too. Of course learning how to ride a bike is one of the first things parents will teach their children other than the obvious walking and talking. Many adults do not remember these times so their memory takes them straight to the training wheels on the bike.

The other possibility out there is that you fell off of one at one stage, more than likely when you were younger and now you have learnt to hate them.

The real truth is that bikes are certainly not for kids and by riding one you are helping the environment and there are going to be more and more of them on the road soon.

Get on those road bikes and get riding!
